LOOK - it’s me!!! Haha, my poster “DO THE SOWIE DANCE” in the background when Soward is about to kick/attempt to kick a goal! 2 people to the left is a really hot guy, the girl on the left is my friend, the guy on my right is my father. And yes, I am dancing - happy moments!!
Special thanks must go to this gal www.twitter.com/SaintlySammi who saw my poster and took a photo. She also came up with the poster :)

Event: Dragons training and quick meet ‘n’ greet afterwards
Who: Me and my friend Alex
When: 7th August 2010 9:15AM - 12:30PM

Where: The one and only (WIN) Kogarah Jubilee Oval
So the day started extremely early (for me) for a Saturday when I dragged my friend off to Kogarah for the Dragons training session. We were greeted with a free barbecue and soft drink (even though it was 9:30AM). I also got the camera out and took a few pictures…There might have been over 100 photos.
The under 20s were training at the time and were looking good.

It wasn’t until 10AM or some time around then when the 1st graders came out. We were sitting far away so it was a little hard to see who was there and who wasn’t. But after stressing for 5 minutes that I couldn’t see Brett Morris, I found him and was relieved.

Just my daily perve on Brett Morris :)
One of the first things I noticed was this:

THE BIG SCREEN MISSING!!! I hope it’s just down for maintenance…
The injured blokes (Peni Tagive, Michael Lett and 2 under 20s players) were training right in front of us - literally 4-5 metres away!!

That was pretty awesome. The rest of the squad was training in the middle of the field so it made it difficult to watch intensely!!
I was given an advertisement about the new Dragons store at the St George Leagues Club which I have yet visited:

Funny stuff: Michael Weyman wearing the Goose of the Week shirt!! I just wonder what he did to deserve wearing this…

And when half the team was attacking, Michael Weyman was put on the wing and someone yelled “Give it to Weyman on the wing!” Well it was funny at the time. Just imagine Michael Weyman running down the wing in place of Brett Morris!
Jarrod Saffy attempted a line drop out which failed miserably! Note: if Soward isn’t available some time this year for a drop out, don’t give the ball to Saffy!
So after watching the Dragons train for an hour, they went back to the change rooms to have showers I wish I could have been in there!! while all the Red V members lined up to get autographs. What I found strange was that the autographing was done in the room next to the scoreboard…It is really small and should have been done on Jubilee Oval itself. As all the players walked past us, I stuck out my hand like a little kid. I got about 10 slaps and found out the following:
Funny stuff when getting autographs:

Then we got down the end and LUCKILY Brett was there. It wouldn’t have been possible to get a photo if he was in the middle because of the location. And I got the best photo ever!!! If you haven’t seen it before:

We all know that some footballers are a bit slow/stupid right? Well when I originally bought this signature book, I intended to have one signature a page. But if one player does the wrong thing, they all do the wrong thing:

And I got my Luke Priddis poster signed. Mainly because it wasn’t and all the other posters were.

Anyway, that was just about it until we had to go out and we just happened to walk past all the cars. Having known what B.Moz’s car looks like (I can thank Beau Ryan last year for that) I kinda looked for his car in the carpark…And I found it/took photos. I’m not stalkerish at all!! But here it is for anyone wanting to follow him. :O

That’s about it. My day was perfect in every way which ended with me winning a Triple M CD from Mark Geyer. Is it weird/normal that my day was filled with happiness only related to football? No? I thought not. Happy days :)
catherine-intents asked: I am so jealous you got to meet brett morris!
wow you are so lucky
was he really nice?
ahh
:)
Not the first time either :) Met him around 4 or 5 times!! It was really convenient cos I really wanted a pic with him more than anyone else and he was sitting at the end. He was really nice, wanted a hug though but not enough time :(
And you’ll have to become a member to meet them all :P

ME AND BRETT MORRIS.
This is the best photo of him and me together. Had a great day today at the Red V members only training session and quick signing session. Had fun trying to explain to my friend (who knows nothing about NRL) who certain players are and making her take photos. The day was beautiful and there were many LOL-worthy moments.
So here is the St George Illawarra Dragons team that was named earlier today that will face Gold Coast Titans on Friday night at Kogarah:
1. Darius Boyd, 2. Brett Morris, 3. Beau Scott, 4. Matt Cooper, 5. Jason Nightingale, 6. Jamie Soward, 7. Ben Hornby (captain), 8. Matt Prior, 9. Luke Priddis, 10. Jon Green, 11. Neville Costigan, 12. Ben Creagh, 13. Dean Young, 14. Trent Merrin, 15. Jeremy Smith, 16. Nick Emmett, 17. Jarrod Saffy, 18. Ricky Thorby, 19. Mark Gasnier
This man WILL score 3 tries so he is on his way to winning top tryscorer again (sorry readers for my obsession):

Luckily for Dragons, the Titans will be without Greg Bird and Ashley Harrison. Well even though the Titans have been losing a fair bit lately, I think they will still come out firing and it will be a tough game for the Dragons.
As much as I LOVE Mark Gasnier (note the sarcasm), I don’t think it’s fair that he’s been named in the team pushing someone else out (most likely Nick Emmett) who has put in a lot of hard work. Not sure of the other Dragon to drop off the bench…I’m assuming Ricky Thorby because he was named as number 18.
So Matt Cooper and Jeremy Smith return from their injuries. I also feel sorry for Kyle Stanley missing out. He played so well and I’m sure once Cooper retires/moves clubs he’ll be a great replacement as long as Dragons hold on to him. *fingers crossed*
Next week should be the return of Nathan Fien (hopefully). I’m really looking forward to him coming back and bring that extra spark and speed into the Dragons. Michael Weyman is due back the week after from suspension and will toughen up our forwards.
The match is at Kogarah, my favourite place to watch the football. My favourite thing to do after a long (well not this week for me) week at school is to take the 30 minute drive to Kogarah, walk down Jubilee Avenue and sit in front of the hill, taking in the atmosphere and cheering my Dragons on. Hopefully I’ll be able to do that more than last time Dragons played at Kogarah (loss to Penrith).
So I’ll hopefully see all you Dragons fans out at Kogarah on Friday night, a night that should/will be filled with celebrations that last the whole night!

Who: South Sydney Rabbitohs v St George Illawarra Dragons
Where: ANZ Stadium
When: 16/07/10 Round 19
Result: Dragons victory 16-13
Dragons are going to be the death of me. Seriously, one day I’ll have a heart attack from this stress they put me through (i.e. last night)! I wasn’t impressed with our win but I am willing to take the 2 points. But I agree with Bennett in saying that Dragons were a bit rusty coming off the bye.
Last night I was treated at the footy in a private suite (but then again, it’s ANZ stadium…)! Now that doesn’t happen very often. There was no catering and the seats were a little too far away but at least I had the opportunity to go, it was free and I got an actual ticket. I don’t get any paper tickets anymore because members get cards. But here it is anyway:

Sorry for the quality of the ticket…I don’t know what happened scanning it…
And the private suite was only 4 or 5 suites away from Rusty’s suite!! Didn’t see him though.
There was this idiot in the box (Souths supporter) next to us that kept yelling out at Soward, Creagh and Gasnier. He kept calling them terrible names but I suppose we get that every week. (He’s probably just jealous that Souths aren’t good enough). I just got really offended when he started yelling at Ben Creagh, he’s such a sweetie!
What I don’t understand with Wayne Bennett is how nearly every game he rests the starting forwards (this game it was meant to be Matt Prior and Trent Merrin) and puts on the reserves (Jon Green and Ricky Thorby) first…Maybe it’s mind games, well coach knows best! And all this news saying Gasnier will start - I never believed a word of it. Kyle Stanley was to be rested but he’s a LEFT centre and Gasnier a RIGHT centre. People just don’t put two and two together! As I predicted, Nick Emmett started as replacement for Kyle and Gasnier came on when the first forward went off around the 20 minute mark (I think it was Jon Green from memory).
The game was very even going by the stats which are here:
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/game?matchid=NRL20101901
Possession, completed and incompleted sets, missed tackles, errors and offloads which were the same and the other stats were very close. It was anyones game but I suppose Dragons wanted to win more.
So the first try of the match was very, very soft. Roy Asotasi (he reminds me of www.twitter.com/kiki_jay bunny) just went through the middle. As a Dragons fan, I’m not used to those tries… The second try was much better - Brett Morris scored another (he’s now coming 2nd on the top tryscorers list - 1st is Panthers Lachlan Coote) from a Darius Boyd pass. The decision upstairs and regardless of the metre and a half forward pass, the try was awarded. It stayed at 6-4 to Rabbitohs at half time. What an outstanding try:

Was Rhys Wesser going feet first? Hmm…As long as he didn’t hurt B.Moz
The second half opened with a Souths try by John Sutton but Dragons responded shortly after with a try to Jason “Florence” Nightingale. The score was 12-10 to Souths and I was starting to get very nervous because the clock was ticking down. Sam Burgess was penalised and Soward opted to take the kick at goal. A few minutes later, Sandow kicked a field goal for Souths - with 16 minutes remaining. So Souths led by 1 and time was running out - enter Le Gaz. It wasn’t a one man effort but started by Neville Costigan, a pass to Nightingale and a sprint down the sideline, passing the ball to Gasnier close behind, managed to score. I didn’t care that it was the player that I didn’t like - all that mattered was that Dragons scored and were winning.

I’m not that surprised that Sam Burgess got man of the match. I couldn’t have told you last night who I thought was the best player for Dragons (but I need to watch the game on TV to have 100% concentration) but Sam Burgess was a stand out. It doesn’t happen very often that a losing players get MOM but in close games anything can happen!
I notice every time a player goes down and I unfortunately had to consult the binoculars on a few occasions to check the injuries. I get very anxious because I care too much! So Darius Boyd was the first to go down (when we had a line drop out) and Hornby was down too. Darius went down in the 2nd half with what looked like some leg cramps. Brett Morris went down too but I’ve been told that was because his boot came off :S I missed it but will re-watch the match later today. As long as the boys are all right, I’ll be happy.
At the end of the day, wins are better than losses (but no win is worth the injuries) - it’s the only way to be successful and hopefully one day soon for the mighty St George Illawarra Dragons!
catherine-intents asked: OH WOW I LOVE THE DRAGONS!
i couldn't find anyone blogging about them until I found your post tonight and you have no idea how excited I am right now
Brett Morris is definately my favourite player!
I went to the game tonight and it was pretty full on, but still good
anyway keep posting good dragons stuff!
:)
I am certainly a passionate Dragons fan!! I’m kinda new at this blogging stuff so give it time.
And I’ve loved Brett Morris since 2005 when Dragons Jersey Flegg team won the premiership and have followed him (and Josh to an extent) to 1st grade. My friends all think I’m crazy for liking him but you have to have an obsession with something, right?!
The game was good because we won but I prefer those games where I’m not sitting on the edge of my seat worrying and stressing!! But at least we won and are still number 1!
Post with 1 note
I’m very much looking forward to the football tonight. Rabbitohs v Dragons.
Original plans fell through on going to the game but I’ve managed to make some more and will be attending (just not sitting in the Burrow anymore, and I’m not that sorry) :)
I’m going to take my beautiful poster (which I hope to use a lot) and my flag.

I’m 80% confident of a Dragons victory and will die of embarrassment if we lose (I have 2 very passionate Rabbitohs supporters as friends). But for once, I’m actually going with a Dragons supporter so it won’t matter as much.
On another note, it’s Dell’s birthday today so if you see him, wish him a happy 36th birthday!! And of course a Dragons victory.
Not going to go over-the-top with dressing up, I don’t want to embarrass my friend! Just my jersey and cap I think.
I just hope our million dollar man - Le Gaz - will play better tonight that he did last Monday. Otherwise, in my opinion, he should go to Dellharbour for a few weeks to get some match fitness and ball control. I really don’t want the press conference to look like this again:

So I think the big match ups tonight will be:
So everyone going out to ANZ Stadium tonight, bring your voices and colours. It should be an interesting and close game (hope it’s not from a Dragons fans point of view though). More of this please:
